From Sentinel-2 STAC to DGGS Native Data Cubes with DGGS.jl (Daniel Loos)

The Open-Earth Monitor Global Workshop 2026 "Next-Generation EO & GeoAI Built on Openness and Distributed Data" 7-9 October 2026, Barcelona, Spain https://earthmonitor.org/global-workshop-2026/ Discrete Global Grid Systems (DGGS) tessellate the earth’s surface into zones of equal area and very similar shape, minimizing spatial distortions in geospatial data processing. Here we present DGGS.jl, a tool to create and visualize data cubes with DGGS coordinates. We applied it to create such a data cube of Europe from quarterly cloudless Sentinel-2 mosaics of the Copernicus Data Space Ecosystem.
